IMPORTANT! The following suggestions are for when you manually enter styles and colors into your Product Catalog by manually typing them in or by importing a CSV file that you or your vendor have created. (When you import styles and colors from a vendor through B2B, you get the style names that they have created.)
Ideally, a style and all of the colors you associate with it in QFloors should have the same cost. In other words, if a particular color within a style costs different from other colors, then you probably should create a separate style. QFloors does work properly when you give one or more colors a different cost than other colors within the same style, but you’re best bet is to create a separate style.
Ideally, you’ll be looking at the vendor’s or manufacturer’s price list to make sure you get spelling, piece sizes, and other details correct. Sometimes you’ll need to abbreviate certain elements, as long as anyone who reads it knows what it means.
DO NOT use any of the following in your style and color names:
( ) ' * , " $
Parentheses, single-quote, asterisk, comma, double-quote, dollar symbol
Soft Goods
For carpet and vinyl, the style name is probably just the style name - they usually aren’t complicated. However, you may want to add to the end of the style name the width of the product. For example, Style Name-12.00.
Hard Surface
For hard surface products, think of the Style in QFloors as a “description”. You need to describe the product well enough so that anyone else knows what it is.
We recommend that you include the following four pieces of information in the style name, as applicable to the product you’re naming.
- Style Name
- Piece Name
- Piece Size
- SqFt per Box
Examples:
Casa Italia Floor Tile 12x12 - 13.00
Casa Italia Floor Tile 18x18 - 7.50
Casa Italia Bullnose 2x10 (no SqFt per box because sold by the piece)
Casa Italia Bullnose 3x8 (no SqFt per box because sold by the piece)
Casa Italia Corner Inside 4x4 (no SqFt per box because sold by the piece)
Casa Italia Corner Outside 4x4 (no SqFt per box because sold by the piece)
Westwood Plank Cedar 5-1/2 x 1/2 x 48-in - 14.66
Westwood Plank Oak 5-1/2 x 1/2 x 48-in - 14.66
Westwood Strip Cedar 2-1/4 x 1/2 x 48-in - 9.00
Westwood Strip Oak 2-1/4 x 1/2 x 48-in - 9.00
Generic Products
Some materials can be considered “generic” - you can buy the same material from multiple suppliers and use them on the same job. Pad is a good example. Rather than naming pad in your QFloors with specific style/color names that your vendors provide, you should create one generic style and color for each type of pad.
Examples:
Pad 3/8 6lb (Use color name of N/A)
Pad 7/16 6lb (Use color name of N/A)
Pad 1/2 8lb (Use color name of N/A)
