Download an example of a Contact Import CSV file
Use these instructions to import a customer list provided in a “CSV” format.
- The CSV file must be in the format found below in the Rules for CSV File section below.
- Click File on the Menu bar, then select Import, then Contact (CSV).
- Browse to and select the CSV file that you need to import.
Rules for CSV File
- Cell A1 must contain only the following text: ~~Contact
That is two tilde characters, followed by the word Contact, with an uppercase letter C - The first row is column headers. All columns must exist, only those marked with a ** are REQUIRED to have data. Columns marked with * are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to have data.

- Required fields
Column A, Row 2 and beyond must contain data. i.e Last Name or Business Name - Invalid Characters
Do not use the following characters in the CSV file ( ) ' * , " [ ]
Parentheses, single-quote, asterisk, comma, double-quote, square brackets
